Can we stop this baby from living on the streets?

How would you feel, if you live in this abandoned and terribly cold house?

What you would think, if in a week or so you should bring a newborn baby here?

What your thoughts would be, if you knew that government will not help you and will not give you any penny or cent...

And you don`t have money in your pocket...

You work but the money enough only for a little food...

What you would do, if you do not have place, where to live?

Please, meet young couple, Ruslan and Marina, who's expecting precious baby boy Artem soon. The baby should be born the 20-27 January. Marina is  17 16 years old  student in a trade school. Ruslan is 20 years old young man, who works hard. Both live in a dormitory but after birth of baby they can not live there any more. Ruslan is from big family with 9 children, was abandoned in childhood and grew at an orphanage. Because of alcohol abuse of mother. Marina, was abandoned and abused by mother in childhood also. Mother was beating Marina so strongly that sweet girl has a scars on her body... :(

Today they feel lost and don`t know what to do... They have faced with a big trouble and feel scared...

Marina and Ruslan do not where to go after birth of their precious son...This is very and very scary to be on hands with newborn baby and not having a cozy and warm home!Ruslan, young Christian man, prays every day expecting a miracle...

We had two options how to help them. But seems that the first option will not work out...So, we have a second one, raise funds to stop the baby living on the streets.

When we asked Ruslan or does he have a house for living? He said, yes and showed us this abandoned house...We were hoping that they could live there. But when we came, we were greatly shocked. Since they do not have a place for living he thought to bring his newborn son here... Can you imagine that? Oh, no!!!! Human can not live in such cold and drafty house! We felt so heartbroken. It is such a disappointing...Imagine, the stress the parents must be feeling.It`s grievous cry, Friends!How we can stay away and let the baby live there???

So, our goal is to raise funds for year to help them with renting an apartment. It will cost $1600-1700 and $800 for the needs of precious Artem, a medicine, diapers, with food may parents have... in first months and so on. Also fees $80. Total $2,580

But we already have an awesome blessing! An one family would like to offer a matching grant for $800 for this sweet couple until January 20th. So whatever we will raise for them before January 20th they will match up to $800! The family will send the money sooner if the $800 is raised sooner! How amazing is that!?

Sasha and Olya - urgently!

Olya and Sasha has VERY difficult and urgently situation. We at all don't know how to help them... Dear our sweet Friends, we need MANY and hotly your prayers.I will try to describe the best I can.

I`m so sorry it took me a week later to tell you about this young couple.We have been VERY busy here by visiting orphanages and repairing of Valya`s house, about these all things, I will tell in next posts.

Sasha has a room in a hostel(dormitory) where they could live...A room is in the awful status, about 12 years there nobody lived. There is no electricity and water, no door etc. But we would help them with the God's help.

We learned that Sasha's sister doesn't allow to live this young couple there. Though he is registered there. In Ukraine it is of great importance, if you have registration. If you are not registered, you can not find job, place to live, make any documents and a lot and a lot more...By other word you can do absolutely nothing.
Olya isn't registered anywhere, Sasha's relatives don't allow to make it to her in Sasha`s room. Even if we would make there repair and everything solved.

A problem is in that, that in this room many relatives are registered and they all can claim for it after repair... They all can throw out Olya and Sasha on the street with the kid on hands.
Also they all drink vodka, use drugs and there many other problems.  Usually with such people there are a lot of problems.It even is dangerous to live to these children there!

Olya has a grandmother, she sold Olya`s house while she was in an orphanage. And now this orphaned teen has no place to live. The grandmother doesn't want to take Olya to herself.
Also the problem consists in that, if Olya isn't registered anywhere, she can't receive money for her son from the government as the help. And she can't to do registration anywhere.

We see only one way.It`s to have a house or a room in dormitory to them, to buy or rent...

They will be owners of their house and anybody can make nothing to them.Also we can visit, help etc. Situation VERY much and very heavy...

So, we really do not know...We have only one way, it`s to pray really hard.Please, pray God help Olya to have a registration somewhere.She has only several months.If she would not do it, she will lose ALL her help money for baby from government.It will be worst than now...

We buy food  and give to them, each time we meet these kids. They both hungry often, so Olga does not have appetite.It`s very bad for her now, as she breastfeeds Edik.She is so suety(pale) and it scare, she can get any sickness.Please, pray for her health also.

 Olya went to ask a room from a city governor, but to her refused. Yes, it is reality dear our Friends. These orphans have NO place to live now with the small newborn baby on hands and anybody can't help them... It is simply awful and breaks our hearts...You can not sleep and eat well, knowing their situation.It`s our one more burden now...

 This young couple really suffers and survives. All relatives kick out and don't want even to hear about them. Imagine their situation, fear, hopelessness, disappointment, helplessness, hungry, without any hope and help...


It`s URGENTLY! PLEASE, please, please, pray for these teens that God help and protect them.We pray hard that Jesus will be mercy and do a miracle in lives of these kids...Everything is so heavy...Please, pray Jesus help them to have their own nest to live.They both are still children, who need a protection and help, love and support.Many thanks for your prayers!!!

He was a street boy...

    When his parents divorced, he was still the child. And it affected his further life. Soon he appeared in an orphanage. Absolutely lonely, with the injured heart, parents forgot about him. It seemed that the world was gloomy and gray, cold and cruel. Nobody will listen to your awful pain, nobody will hug, won't tell warm words. Tears, pain of heart,sorrow,grief, misunderstanding, lonely with empty heart.It seemed that all forgot also everyone was occupied with the vital affairs, without paying attention to the guy which so needed a consolation and love. 

   Time went... Time came to leave the orphanage forever.When he left walls of the orphanage and came back to home.He saw that the house was empty. His mother lived with the girlfriend drinking vodka thinking of nothing. Nothing disturbed her. The heart pain of the broken family, complete of loneliness and pains, she tried to find a consolation in vodka. She  circumfused her pain by vodka and to forget about everything forever. Soon she became to nobody the necessary to suffering of alcoholic abuse. The father lived with other family.

   The house, where returned this guy was empty and in an awful condition...There was no light, water and gas. The service came and cut off everything for failure to pay of utilities. Windows were beaten, without glass. In the house there was no food. It is empty, there is nobody. About the house that is the house, only reminded memories and known things.
   Shocked from seen, from pain and fear in heart, tears began to well up on eyes.He sat down on the iron and broken bed, clasped the head by hands and started to cry bitterly. The big fear filled his heart, pain, loneliness. What to do is future? How to live? To whom to follow the help? I am not necessary to nobody, forgotten and lonely ...he thought at this time. Tears slid as the river. Hungry, and full of fear and horror, in tears he fell asleep in the empty house.

   Days were cold and rainy. Therefore windows he fixed different boards and fibreboards. What though somehow to be warmed. It became shortly cold and he woke up from cold in the morning, shaking like an aspen leaf on a tree. Snow covered a room where he slept. When was very cold he muffled up more feasibly in a thin worn blanket to be warmed.When he hammered windows by boards or a cardboard or than it will be come into the hands, in the house it was dark and cold as in a storeroom. Often boards were broken by bums. Also it was necessary to repair windows again and again. To make light in the house, he connected two wires among themselves, what though as that to live. But he hidden from neighbors that lived behind a wall that they wouldn't be issued in the house and didn't go to complain in service.

   In the winter wore gumshoes because there was no other footwear. The rubber footwear froze and it was impossible to endure cold. Feet were simply ice.The frost was about 30`C. He dressed on two pairs sock to be warmed, but it didn't help...

Nobody wanted to take 14 year old guy on the work. It was heavy to arrive somewhere to study.

   It was necessary simply to survive...That though somehow to be consoled and allay the heart pain and fear, he started to drink vodka.On the work don't accept, there is no place to study, money isn't present to buy food and there is no place where to take. It was necessary to steal that to survive...

   To survive he wandered on different streets, the cellars, the thrown places and collected dairy bottles. Handed over them and on this money he bought food. It was not finite enough. Often he was undernourished.

   One day he managed to find a work. As in the USSR nobody took on the work juvenile child and it was illegal. So illegally he got job in cafe. He helped to undress meat in kitchen. But not long it was necessary to wait. Someone from government officials or inspection learned that the juvenile child works at kitchen. The director came and he asked him leave immediately or he can to get to prison that the juvenile guy works for him. Again hunger days, again problems...

  Once street children robed a small shop. The police thought that he also was involved in it. Also took away him in a children's shelter where held him, accusing him of that what he didn't do. Behind a high concrete fence and many iron doors, in a strict daily routine to walk everywhere only a system, hearing humiliations and insults, seeing mockeries and violence over children, he had to spend there about 30 days.It was scary and awful place.

  Once at night he passed by confectionery and noticed that a window was open.The smell of tasty cakes was so wonderful and tempting. He having yearned and having exhausted for hunger, reached to an open window. Having gorged on cakes, on following night he returned again. And here he got in hands of tall and strong man.

   When there was a court and accusing asked him why he stole.He is lost and frightened, with lowered head, he silently responded: "I simply wanted to eat..." The procurator became angry and the enraged voice started to accuse of various sins. The guy burst into tears and asked to mercy. But he was ruthless and screamed: "I will make everything that to put you in prison. Anyway you are necessary to nobody.Such as you should be in prison!" "Such as you", means those who was or who are in orphanages or on street...

  Nobody wanted to listen his explanation that he couldn't find to the work, couldn't find any educational institution. There was nobody him to help. The verdict was made. Three years of prison for the stolen cake.

  This is the real story a former street boy.It is only small part of history... He remembers everything accurately and clearly as though it occurred yesterday. Today he is saved Christian by grace of God, who helps the same street boys and girls. Who doesn't know about that there is a way and hope. The get-out or solution  is always, this is Jesus Christ.The consolation in heart, protection and rest it is possible to find only in Jesus Christ.

Many of you know this former street guy. Who passed all this way of loneliness and horror, knowing what such hunger and cold, fear and horror, pain and disappointment, injustice and indifference, humiliation and much more...This is brother Misha, Director of Bible Orphan Ministry in Ukraine.He was this street boy.

It everything waits for orphans who are graduate from orphanages in some weeks.Fear, tears, helplessness, loneliness, hunger. If will be a lucky probably will find a work or educational institution. But if no, there they waits the street, hunger cold, alcoholic and drug addiction, prison etc.

It`s excited and in same time so heartbreaking...So happy for a small girl who found forever her loving family! 

And I read it again and again about condition of kids in mental institutions and orphanages.It seem that I`m first time there...I see, I know. But it is need to be unconcerned that to get accustomed to it...

"Behind the Institution Gates
It's hard to estimate exactly how many special needs children are institutionalized across Ukraine. Some human rights workers estimate it could be in the tens of thousands. But not all come with proper documentation. And others are simply dropped off and abandoned.
Volunteers Misha Glazov and Alla Vasilieva have been visiting orphans -- special needs and typical children -- for years as part of their charity organization, Bible Orphan Ministry. For the special needs children, they are the only visitors most of them get.
Both Glazov and Vasilieva were sent to orphanages as young children and know exactly how these children feel. (It`s from me.I would add here my sister Oksana.She was in orphanage too.)  :)

When they drive up to a girls' institution for ages 5 to 35, the girls surround their van, pulling at them and their visitors for hugs, pictures. It is obvious both how much they crave attention and how little of it they get outside of these visits. 

 "All the time when we come them they say 'Mommy or Papa,'" Vasilieva said. "And I think that they understand and want to be in family."
At the girls' institutions, most of the girls and women have shorn hair. Their teeth are decaying or have fallen out. Most are covered in bug bites and scratches. Vasilieva explains that they often see the girls in the same outfit visit after visit.
They bathe about once a week.
One little girl with Down syndrome, named Masha, clings to her visitors. She looks to be about 3 years old, but is actually 7. Experts say this is a type of emotional dwarfism when a child neglected at a young age fails to thrive physically as well as emotionally.
But the conditions at the girls' orphanage were better than the boys' facilities ABC News visited.
There, the conditions ranged from bad to heartbreaking.
At one institution, where the smell of mold permeated some of the rooms and hallways, the boys sat and listened to Glazov and his ministry volunteers sing and tell Bible stories...

 The caretakers told ABC News they were overworked and often overwhelmed. There are just two nurses for the boys during the day and just one at night. They admitted to giving the boys injections to make them sleep. At times the boys have been restrained with shirts and sheets.
Glazov and Vasilieva know exactly how bad these children have it. But even Vasilieva was stunned when she first saw the conditions.

At a third institution, again for boys and men ages 5 to 35, the reason so many Americans were rushing to file adoptions papers for children with Down syndrome became shockingly apparent.
One step into the main institution was met with a wall of sickening odor, the smell of urine and feces. Several boys were left to sit in a sparse room that consisted only of wooden benches lining the walls and thin blankets spread across the floor.

"First time I came to mental institution and I saw the children I was shocked," she said. "Because I live in Ukraine and I did not know about these children."
Though Vasilieva had been visiting children with Down syndrome for years, it was only recently that she realized they were capable of being educated.
"We thought they cannot study, they cannot have education and we knew that they're life is real hard, but we did not know we could help them," she said. "We thought they understand nothing."
The myth that Down syndrome is a severe mental illness and a scourge on society is an overwhelmingly common one."

Unusual day...

  I`m just exciting to share with you what a blessed day we had last Thursday!I`m so sorry I did not tell about this special day earlier.I was going to post about it every day.But I was much busy.So, finally I can do that and have so many to tell you!

Last Thursday we were able to visit mental institution for girls with several volunteers(former orphans).They are blessing from the Lord! The day was such sunny and beautiful!

So many things has happened during this day.I would love to tell you about all of them.
We had blessings, such happy moments and sorrows and heartaches too. :`(

  In the beginning when we arrived to the mental institution, administration has found they forgot to let us know that girls take shower at this day and it will be heavy for us and probably we will not see all kids.But it was God`s plan!Everything was perfectly well! Until smaller children were taking shower we could to be with older girls.When smaller ones have finished, they came to the place where we had program and we could to be with them too.Everything was perfect and amazing!

Do you know orphans take a shower ones for a week?
Do you know that in one shower room can be about 20 naked girls take shower in one time?

Do you know that caretakers wash them very fast as there are many girls?And they do not play with small children with water because have not time for it.

It is not only in mental institution but in every orphanage.
Do you know that children in mental institution do not brush teeth, that is why they go bad and children lose their teeth. And as result they have problems with stomach and many others.

Do you know orphans have not personal shampoo, soap, toothpaste etc?

At this day we sang a song, has told a very simple Bible story about Daniel in lion den, played games, had puppet show.We had amazing time with children!

Children were excited so much by everything!They loved puppet show, song and enjoyed to play a game so much! There was loud applause for the us. We even did not expect they will be so happy!
I even can not tell you how they were glad, how they excited, how they had run to us that will hug and kiss!WOW!It was amazing time! We were so glad to see them smiling and rejoicing by everything!

Oh, my goodness!There were so many emotions!

Before the Bible history we told them a little bit about lion and showed a toy lion.It brought a lot of emotions!

We took 2 girls who played acting the king and Daniel.Nadya has told this history.To one of girls we showed how need to bend on knees in prayer (when Daniel has prayed).

She did it perfect!Both girls did excellent job during history!They were so enjoying by doing it!

Here how they were excited of Bible history.Also a blessing was for us that over 8-10 caretakers could to be with us. And do you know what?They were excited also!It was a big privilege and blessing for us to tell them about God.The head Misha preached to them a little bit. After program  they came to us and thanked for everything.It was so sweet!WOW! What an amazing God we serve!

Here we gave to them a little stickers. WOW! How they were glad to get it!They were so much interested to see it on their hand.It was fun much to observe on them.

But some girls did not react. :( It seems they did not understand what we did.But we hope they were glad of our time with them.

This girl is blind.I even can not imagine what she come through.Oh, poor girl how she suffers and is desperate.It is just makes to break and crush my heart...

After that we went to the heaviest children that to visit and spend time with them too.

We sang songs using guitar too, had puppet show and have played with them a LOT.We had amazing time with kids!They were so glad to play!

This little girl is more skinny than from last time, only bones.We are just afraid how long she will be alive, how long she will be suffer...

It was so hard to leave all these precious kids there.Yes, we had beautiful and amazing time!We just amazed how the Lord has blessed our time!But in same time with heavy hearts we left this place.We left them with their loneliness, hurt, sufferings and tears...

When we finished everything we wanted to do there, we visited a girl at hospital from this same mental institution.

Oh, how she was happy to see us and so many visitors for one time!:) No one has visited her during several weeks until she was there.So, you can imagine how she was happy.

We bought some fruits and gave to her.She was so glad to receive it!

She will be 18 years old soon.We hope to bring a present for her a next time.

The next what I`m sharing with you is so sad...

It is usual ukrainian cemetery.The size of grave says about age of a person who died.If big grave, it means adult, if a small one, a child.

Every cemetry has a cross like this one.Or you can see it in the beginning almost of every village.

It seems the new -made grave, because there are a lot of flowers.

This is unusual part of cemetry.Because it is cemetry of mental institution for girls...

And workers of orphanage are making the new grave for a little girl...Yes, in this same day when we arrived to the mental institution the sweet girl "P" has died. :`(

  She had cerebral palsy and big trouble with kidneys.Because of this sickness, came some other sickness with lungs.A poor little girl 10 years old  suffered 8 years with her bad kidneys. The mental institution could do nothing to help her during these 8 years!Because had not finances...At this time she was at hospital.Doctors has done everything they could to help this girl but nothing helped...

Workers of orphanage has told us she had dying kidneys.It is so and so sad.The tears has run down on our faces.We whole team were shocked and upset much to hear it.We know this girl, she was just a sweet and very smart!Oh, it make break and crush my heart...We are upset and sorry about her.It is so heartbreaking to know it when you lost someone, whom you know and love.We believe she is in the heaven with Jesus and does not suffer any more.

Please, pray for these adorable and precious children!Please, pray we can help them!Please, pray we will be able visit them oftener...

Shoes and clothes

With big burden and sadness i`m writing this post. I told you about orphans in camp before but not all... Because i was going to tell you about that in this special post and it is not only about orphans in camp but about ALL orphans we minister.

We saw the big need of orphans have with shoes and clothes. It is terrible what shoes/sandals they wear!
 Same is with clothes. But i would like to stop here and say about shoes.
Their shoes too big 2-3 sizes more or too small.Also it is broken, worn out much, it hurts their foot or soles, makes callosity or wounds on feets. Boys wear girls sandals and girls wear boy`s.Because they have not other shoes.They wear what they have. Some of them generally have not shoes and they wear shoes of their friends or classmates.

Would you like wear sandals like this? Me, no.

Can you imagine yourself in their shoes just in a moment? Imagine they have to wear these shoes all time, because they do not have a choice.They can not buy, they have not parents or relatives or friends who can present a new shoes for them.They just do not have no one, nothing...They can not run and walk in cold or wet weather.They have to suffer and bite the bullet. It is terrible!

An one girl shared with me her little story that she does not have a shoes and she wears shoes of her friend.Her shoes she can not wear because it is already worn out and unfit.Can you imagine you wear shoes of your friend?..

Just in moment I recalled myself  when i was in orphanage. I was about 14-15 years old in this time, the same age as this girl(sorry have not her picture). I was talking with her and did not think to make a picture.
An one person stole my winter boots.It was winter and was very cold. For several weeks I had to wear slippers, because I had nothing. Yes, it was snow outside and frost but I did not have a choice.It was good that buildings is close one to another and I just did run or walked very fast to them. But I could not to play outside at this time.

You may ask but where was caretaker?

Did you tell about that your caretaker?
No
 
Why?
I was afraid

Did caregiver see you did not have boots and needed it?
Well. I can not answer on this question, saw she it or no.I do not know.

 Did you tell her about that?
 No.

But why?
I was afraid.

Why?
I was afraid to tell everyone about my this need and others.I was afraid to ask any one to help or ask something.And I was afraid to tell her who stole my shoes.I was frighten very much.Because my mom beat me up often in childhood.

After that I was afraid everything.I was hidden all pain and suffers inside of my soul.This caregiver did beat children also.I was afraid to tell her that I have not boots or shoes.I thought she start to scream and beat me because of that.I remember it very clear like today.Sadly that some moments of our life we can not forget...So, I suffered physical and emotional in this time.

But praise God my aunt gave me autumn shoes for me.Yes, it was several sizes bigger than mine and I looked funny. :) Yes, it was cold in my foots and I knew I should to give back her it when season will finish but I was glad.

This is just very simple example.But i`m sure there are many children who suffer much more.There are many children who have not parents or relatives who can help them.Even they have relatives, they do not take care about these poor kids.These children are abandoned, neglect and forgotten...

We ask you to help in this need.Please...We are Church of Christ, we are Christians we should to show the God`s love and care to these children.

These children like this sweet kitten, who need food, care, attention and love.And these children are beautiful like this sweet girl.Let`s together will not let suffer these precious children!

 Lately I like these verses and love to read it again and again.


"Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. 
Here I think can be children with special needs, who can not speak
Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy." Proverbs 31:8-9
 And second verse without comments.

So, we open our mouth in our prayers before the Lord and plead Jesus to help orphans, these poor kids in their needs, clothes and shoes. 

And please,we ask you to help.Probably you, your children have clothes or shoes which you not wear. Need sizes 4-35 years old, for small boys and girls, teens and adults(in mental institutions).

If you, your family have not it.Please, tell your friends, relatives, neighbours, even Church will  help orphans in Ukraine.It even can be used clothes or shoes but good.

Please, will you help us to show these kids God`s love and His care? Please, will you open your mouth in prayer together with us before the Lord about need of these orphans?With heavy heart we plead you to help.We appreciate any little step in it. Thank you! God bless you!
